According to the Pythagorean Theorem, if you know the lengths of two sides of a right triangle, then you can find the length of the third side. In order to use the Pythagorean Theorem, we must have a right triangle. Our triangle is shown at right with two yellow sides and a red side. It is a right triangle because it has a right angle, and so we can use the Pythagorean Theorem to solve for the length of the red side. |
