A Few More Types of Energy
Now, we will briefly list a few more types of energy. The list below is in no way an exhaustive list of all the forms of energy.
Thermal energy is defined as the total kinetic and potential energy of all of the molecules and atoms making up a substance. When we say that energy is "lost as heat," we mean that some form of energy has been transformed into thermal energy.
Spring potential energy is the energy contained by a spring (or spring-like object) based upon how much the spring is stretched or compressed. Spring potential energy is just a form of elastic potential energy. A spring potential energy equation is shown below. Note: Numerous objects in the physical world behave like springs. For instance, tendons in the human body can behave very much like springs, and we are able to use the spring potential energy equation below to calculate the spring potential energy stored in tendons.

Nuclear energy is the energy contained in the configuration of the nucleus of an atom.
Light energy is the energy transferred by the electric and magnetic fields of a light wave.
Sound energy is the energy transferred by a sound wave.
