A Few More Types of Energy
Now, we will briefly list a few more types of energy. The list below is in no way an exhaustive list of all the forms of energy.
Thermal energy is defined as the total kinetic and potential energy of all of the molecules and atoms making up a substance. When we say that energy is "lost as heat," we mean that some form of energy has been transformed into thermal energy.
Spring potential energy is the energy contained by a spring based upon how much the spring is stretched or compressed.
Nuclear energy is the energy contained in the configuration of the nucleus of an atom.
Light energy is the energy transferred by the electric and magnetic fields of a light wave.
Sound energy is the energy transferred by a sound wave.
