A motion diagram is a simplified representation of the motion of an object.
The motion diagram for an object at rest is a stationary point over the time interval in question. The video below and at the left shows a student who is stationary for 5 seconds. You can see a motion diagram representing his motion below and at the right. The blue dot represents the object in question (the student). Only one dot is drawn because the object has the same position from time = 0 seconds until time = 5 seconds (the time in consideration).
