A Motion Diagram for an Object Slowing Down in the Positive Direction
A motion diagram is a simplified representation of the motion of an object.
The motion diagram for an object which is slowing down while moving in the positive direction is made up of dots which get closer together in the positive direction. The video below and at the left shows a student who is moving in the positive direction while slowing down for four seconds. Note: The students have designated the positive direction to be to the left. You can see a motion diagram representing the student's motion below and at the right. The blue dots represent the object in question (the student). Five dots are shown because the motion diagram represents four seconds of motion (starting at 0 seconds and ending at 4 seconds).
