Impulse Calculations With Graphs
So, we know that the impulse imparted upon the golf ball by the golf club is equal to the force exerted on the golf ball by the club multiplied by the time over which the force is exerted on the ball. Therefore, if we know both the force exerted on the ball and the time over which the force acts, we can calculate the impulse imparted upon the ball by the club. Look at the Force Versus Time graph at the right. You should notice that the force exerted on the ball is on the vertical axis of the graph and the time over which the force acts is on the horizontal axis. |
