Transfer of Energy
A transfer of energy occurs when one object gives its energy to another object. For instance, a football player transfers kinetic energy from his foot to the ball when he or she kicks the ball. A golfer transfers kinetic energy from his body to a golf club, and the golf club, in turn, transfers the kinetic energy to the golf ball. Energy transfers often also involve energy transformations. For instance, when you digest a meal, chemical potential energy from the food you eat is transferred to you, and that energy is then transformed into various forms, like kinetic energy and thermal energy.
