A Definition of Force
A force is defined as a push or a pull. Many forces can be acting on one object at a time.
Force is abbreviated as capital F with an arrow above it. The arrow means that force is a vector quantity. Sometimes the abbreviation for force has a subscript. The subscript tells us which kind of force is being represented. For instance, if the subscript attached to the force abbreviation is g, then the force represented by the abbreviation is the force due to gravity.
The SI unit for force is the Newton (named after Isaac Newton), and the abbreviation for the Newton is capital N.
